Spring 2013-Fall 2014
Toyo University
Toyo University
My year abroad at Toyo University was the most memorable I ever had. Each day brought precious, dear memories that will last a lifetime. The friends, classes, professors met, the places I traveled to,and the food that I ate will always be with me. The classes I took at Toyo University range from Intermediate level language classes to Japanese business classes. A PDF of my Toyo University transcript will be available for download.
I spent my year abroad at the Toyo University I-House, which is a an international dormitory that house students from across the globe, a true melting pot. During my year this dormitory housed Irish, French, English (UK), Australia, and Colombian students which shared cultures with one another. At any given point of the day French, English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese could be heard throughout the halls.
Little do people know that Tokyo has a gourmet cheese burger culture. A year away from a delicious hamburger would be impossible. Luckily enough I was able to find the Firehouse grill across the street and around the corner from Tokyo University. This bacon cheeseburger and Hawaiin cheeseburger from Rainbow Kitchen, right across the street from the international house are in my top 5 burgers of all time.
Wednesdays my favorite day of the week! Each Wednesday after class my professor and friends would invite for an evening to unwind. We would go to Tori-den, which is down the street from Toyo University, where we partake in delicious yakitori and "apple juice", Our group ranged from different ages to different cultures but no of this mattered. Once we sat down in one another's company we were all friends. This is also where I polished my Japanese conversational skills because I had no other choice but to speak Japanese. All of this is thanks to Kunio Nishimura, one of my favorite professors, friends, and human being. May you RIP and may be smiling upon us from atop of Mt. Fuji,
